The whimsical yet garish constructions of this series is the imagination of the Midwestern farm boy gone wild. Growing up in Ohio, there were bugs. A lot of them. But closer investigation showed unique structures and characteristics. The creation of my own version of these creatures – at a human scale – connects us to them on a different level, standing toe to toe with each in a personal fantasy or nightmare. In one sense these creatures exist at this scale to ask, “What if?”
